Staycation

Logline: A newlywed couple experiences loss and a miracle while staying at an Airbnb for the weekend.

Newlyweds, Jessie and Tish work hard to pay the bills and do not make enough to have a little fun. They have big plans to buy their first house and start a family. When Jessie finally convinces his wife to go on a staycation she agrees and they rent an Airbnb for the weekend. After their first night stay Jessie notices they have not been charged for the stay and thinks they have just been gifted a wedding present. As they enjoy the Airbnb they continue to use all the amenities to have a great time. When the trip is over Jessie gets strange text notifications from his bank of several transactions. When he calls the host about the transactions the owner ensures him that the mistake will be resolved. After a couple of days have passed Jessie checks his bank accounts expecting to see the errors fixed. When he calls back the host the number is non working. When Jessie and his wife Tish try to hunt the owner down to confront him of the missing money from their account they find out that they have been scammed. The host cleaned out their bank account charging their card over and over again until it was not able to charge due to insufficient funds. Jessie and Tish go to the police for help but are told that they will have to sit tight and wait for someone to contact them with answers. When they get home they begin to worry about how they are going to pay their bills and keep their apartment, Frustrated and emotional Tish stumbles on a lottery ticket that Jessie had in his pants pocket as she sorts out laundry. She puts the ticket on the washing machine and puts the pants into the washing machine. The next day Jessie gets up and walks into the kitchen to put the television on. When he makes coffee he hears the news anchor report about a winning ticket that has not yet been announced in their area. When Jessie hears about the lottery he runs to the laundry room to find the pants with the ticket he left in his pocket. When he feels for the ticket in both pockets he comes up short. He screams to Tish who is in the bedroom asking about the missing ticket. She lets him know that she put it on top of the washing machine. Jessie looks up and down the laundry room for the ticket and sees it on the floor. He picks up the ticket and runs back to the kitchen. He sits down and sees the winning numbers on the screen being read by the news anchor. He glances down at the ticket in his hand and nearly has a heart attack. He screams out for his wife Tish and she comes out running. He shows her the ticket numbers and points to the numbers on the television. The news anchor reports that the winners of the numbers are millionaires. Jessie and Tish scream with joy and hug each other very tight. The young couple stoop down to the floor and stay in an embrace.
