Perfectly Normal in Flagstaff

LOGLINE: A sickly woman meets an imperfect man, but despite a host of challenges, they fall in love in quirky Flagstaff, Arizona.

COMPS: Mystic Pizza meets Virgen River, meets Robert Buckly (from iZombie as David) in Flagstaff. Its a dramedy about an imperfect woman named Julz Havreaux (mixed race B/W, 27), who I embodied with the same health challenges that I have. Julz and her sisters, overly protective Jaxx (30), levelheaded Jade (22) and trouble prone Joe (21), their Mom Connie (BW/60s) and their Uncle Sumner (WM, 60s) moved to Flagstaff, AZ after Hurricane Katrina destroyed their home. Uncle Sumner is good looking bad boy who owns night club and construction company. He dabbles in a variety of other questionable businesses. He’s very protective of his family and he’ll use his trusty blade named “Trouble-Sum” to put down any threats to his kin.

Julz, her sisters and their two assistants Daisy and Terra run a tattoo business called Wicked Sisters Ink & More. The shop features tattoos and extreme body modifications. Enter Uncle Sumner. He’s a jack of bad trades and master of trouble who will stop at nothing to protect his family. Thanks to Uncle Sumner's bizarre medical supply hook-up, things get a little strange after a body modification of fangs implanted in a woman's hoo-hah goes the rails. The sisters masterfully manage their business and the madness.

Along comes handsome Air Force veteran turned horror writer, David Greene (WM, 30s). The backstory of how David sustained severe burn injuries in the military make a great, dramatic reveal in the story. Thankfully Despite a series of hilarious events, Julz's rambunctious family, her shady Cajun Uncle, quirky characters, medical emergencies and intense drama, Julz and David fall in love under the dancing lights of the southern Aurora Borealis in perfectly normal Flagstaff.

Perfectly Normal in Flagstaff is what happens when Beauty Shop meets Virgin River meets Serendipity then chases it down with a Bayou version of Ozark.
