Reclamation

Kelly Moneymaker

Reclamation is a rock n’ roll call-to-action for Indigenous peoples (and their allies) to resonate in unity to protect their lands, waters, and peoples in the face of climate crisis and further industrial development.

The overall story arc emphasizes the importance of Indigenous land stewardship in preserving traditional ways of life and environments that have sustained their communities for over 17,000 years. It highlights adverse effects of industrial projects, particularly those that bring non-local workers close to villages, leading to resource strain and increased crimes against Native women and girls. The global narrative connects to the broader movement of Indigenous peoples advocating for human rights, food sovereignty, self-determination, and protection from the interlinked threats of colonization, patriarchy, capitalism, and the climate crisis.
